Volunteer

The vital work of the Santa Cruz AIDS Project is made possible because of people, such as you, willing to lend a helping hand. Everyone has something special to offer and knowing that you are making a difference in the lives of others is a rich reward. In addition, you have the opportunity to:

  • Develop marketable skills for future career opportunities
  • Undertake unique training/learning opportunities
  • Apply for community service hours

Volunteer positions are open to all individuals, without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, or disability. There are many ways to get involved, please review our volunteer opportunities.

 

Volunteer Opportunities

Office Assistant

Volunteers assist with reception duties, answering phones, directing clients, food pantry up keep, and fundraising. 

Event Coordinator

Event Coordinator Assistants will organize, plan and execute annual fundraisers and special events. You will design, write and edit print media including: fliers, invitations, and advertisements, while learning community outreach, networking, database, and organizational skills. Computer literacy is required, including experience with Excel. 

On Call- Graphic Designer

Graphic Designers will create posters and advertisements for our annual fundraisers and special events. Experience with Photoshop, Publisher and Paint is required.

Outreach Task Force (Santa Cruz and Watsonville)

Outreach volunteers conduct individual and group outreach. Emphasis is placed on risk reduction for targeted risk populations. Outreach volunteers provide risk assessments and work with members of the community to reduce the rate of HIV transmission.

Client Transportation -(On Call) Driver

On Call Drivers will be contacted (in advance) to provide our clients transportation to appointments. A reliable vehicle and car insurance is mandatory considering many appointments will be in San Francisco.  SCAP will reimburse for gas mileage. We are asking for a minimum 6-month volunteer commitment. Background checks will be conducted.  Emphasis is placed on reliable and compassionate volunteers.
