In Honor of those who we have lost and of those who continue to be infected and affected by this deadly virus.

Candlelight Vigil6:30pm at the Clock Tower in Downtown Santa Cruz

            *Live Musical Performances

            *Lighting of Remembrance Candles

            *Reading of the first names of those in Santa Cruz County who have lost their lives to HIV/AIDS

            *An opportunity for the public to share memories with others

Reception8:00pm at Lifestyle Culinary Arts, 101-B Cooper Street

            *Continue the Remembrance

            *View an exhibit of photographs taken in Rwanda

            *Enjoy a beautiful array of cheeses, desserts and drinks

Look for Our Lecture Series during the last week of November!

Topics will include:

*First Hand:

A first hand description of what it means to live with HIV given by those who are HIV-infected in our community.   At the Center For Conscious Living in Live Oak from 6:30-8:30

*Harm Reduction Sexual Practices:

This controversial topic provides important information regarding

 HIV risk reduction techniques for those who are both HIV+ and HIV-. Also at the Center for Conscious Living from 6:30-8:30

*HIV/AIDS in Africa: How it Affects Us Locally:

This discussion will review both Public Health and Medical approaches to addressing the HIV epidemic here and abroad. It will focus on how understanding cultural norms are essential to effective prevention and treatment programs.  At UCSC Oakes room 105 from 7-10

*Abstaining from Reality:

An evidence-based evaluation of current HIV prevention policy in the United States and in Developing Countries.  This will include a viewing of a short documentary called Abstaining from Reality.  To be viewed at the First Congressional Church at 900 High St. in the back room

2007 AIDS Walk Recap
More than 200 walkers, generous business donations and community sponsors helped make the AIDS Walk a huge success. More than $18,000 was raised and a fun time was had by all.
